ANSWER 1B: It is correct to say that all moral values are directly related to each different culture around the world. Each culture has its own beliefs and tradition and what might seem taboo to us is normal for them. For example, people in India believe the cow is sacred ,but here in America we serve Big Mac and Whoppers. Many cultures worship in many different ways. Some cultures like the ancient Mayans preform countless human sacrifices, if that was going on today we would call it murder.
P: Worship the cow or eat a Big Mac?
P: A necessary sacrifice or an unnecessary murder?
C: Therefore, it is correct to say that all moral values are relative to the culture they are found in.
QUESTION #2: Isn’t it a mark of ignorance to pass judgments on other cultures or to claim that one culture is better than another?
Yes it is a mark of ignorance to pass judgments on other cultures or to claim that one culture is better than another. Because who are we to past judgment on another culture when we don't know their customs and where they came from. Parents in India set up dowries so their son or daughter can be married off to someone of the parents choosing. Of course this not our custom but what do they think when they look at us? A country that is over weight and divorce is normal. We shouldn't pass judgment on any culture, specially if we do no know what their traditions are.
P: We don't know their customs.
P: Know how we view other cultures can effect how they view us.
C: Therefore, it is a mark of ignorance to pass judgments on other cultures or to claim that one culture is better than another.
